Sage One of God's Wonderful Healing Herbs....







SAGE THE HERB:

Sage is a perennial evergreen shrub with a woolly appearance. There are numerous varieties of this plant. It grows 1 -2 feet tall. In the heart of the summer this plant produces purple, blue or white flowers. The picture on this post shows the plant as having purple flowers.

This herb grows well from seed and will also grow from cuttings. Rooting will take hold in about 4 weeks. It is an herb that is fairly tolerant of the drought. But don't let this cause you to not water it. It will also benefit from being watered. Sage will grow quite well in a container. Sage likes full sun and well drained soil.

Sage has been known to help with nervous conditions, such as depression, vertigo, and trembling. It is also known to be helpful in coping with mental fatigue and despair. Sage is also helpful when it comes to digestive disorders such as the conditions of gastritis and diarrhea. It has been used for respiratory conditions, reproductive problems and other body systems. It has been recognized for the ability it has to strengthen the senses and support the metabolism. In Europe they traditionally use sage for the skin to heal the skin and reduce pore size.

Use sage tea as a gargle. It has also been known to help with sore gums, laryngitis, sore throats and tonsillitis. The finely crushed leaves of sage have been known to help relieve the pain and itching of insect bites.

Sage has a spicy, herbaceous aroma. The aroma is strong and wonderful. It is a great herb to cook with! It combines well with other herbs, and it adds great flavor to many dishes, especially poultry. The herb sage compliments a turkey dinner wonderfully.

THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF SAGE:
Sage is also used in the form of an oil. Be sure it is a therapeutic grade essential oil. It is a great as an antiviral, anti cellulite and antibacterial agent. It is used for specific bacteria which include staph's, strep's and pseudomonas. As an anti fungal it is effective in riding one of candida. It also has Estrogen like properties, which in turn makes it helpful with female problems such as peri-menopause, sterility and menopausal problems.

Even though high amounts of this essential oil can cause problems and could be very harmful, it is very successful on a variety of problems as long as it is taken in very small dosages. It is great for relieving grief and quickening ones senses. It is great for stimulating the lymphatic system. It is also been known to be effective against herpes and to help improve bad circulation in the body.

WARNING: It is said that sage oil should not be used on young children or pregnant women, it can cause malformations in babies while still in utero.
